Tucked away in a typical strip mall in Keller, Lee’s Grilled Cheese graduated from food truck success to shop front. And a good thing it did!! What a treat!

This ain’t your mama’s grilled cheese, and I know it ain’t my grilled cheese. True, the buttery toasted bread is what you expect from any respectable sandwich answering to the call of grilled cheese, but the variety and care taken to create such a tasty wich certainly surpasses any I’ve quickly thrown together.

And the variety… C.mon! What? Peanut Butter Jelly Time? S’Mores? Billy the Kid? Those are just a few of the fetching choices on the menu.

I chose the fantastic Big Kahuna: cheddar cheese, smoked bacon, bbq pulled pork, and grilled pineapple. Yes, you heard me right. Grilled pineapple.

Let’s talk: yes, there was the homey satisfaction grilled cheese sandwiches deliver like no other sandwich, but there was so much more. There was the savory pulled pork with the salty crunchiness of the bacon, and then… BAM!!! The grilled pineapple comes in: sweet, sure, but the grilled element makes this acid fruit cohesive with the rest of the tastes. The result is a collaboration of hearty meatiness highlighted with buttery goodness and counterpointed with pineapple juiciness. Yes, it is as good as it sounds.Yes, you should run not walk to Lee’s Grilled Cheese. You will not be disappointed!
